Wout had zijn opleiding op de instrumentmakersschool van het Kamerlingh Onnes laboratorium in Leiden. Hij was van duitse afkomst en had het daardoor na de tweede wereldoorlog niet makkelijk in Nederland. Daarom emigreerde hij naar Canada, en kwam later bij de NASA te werken in de USA. Om bij de NASA te mogen werken moest hij tot Amerikaaan genaturaliseerd worden ¹⁰²

(TED), Funeral services for Ted of Winter Springs, FL who passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 will be held at St. Stevens Catholic Community, 575 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs, FL 32708 on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years Trudy Mader. Together they had three sons Don, Ted and Michael Mader and a daughter Jennifer Held. There are seven grandchildren Noelle, Kristen, Megan, Wesley, Jordyn, Olivia and Erin, each special to him in different ways. Ted worked his way into the Optical Engineering Field in the Netherlands, then was invited to work in Canada by Aviation Electric. From there the family moved to CT and Ted worked for Perkin Elmer on various projects like the Hubbell Space Telescope and Project Hexagon. He moved to Florida in 1987 working for Martin Marietta, then retired, went back to school and became a certified Horologist. Word of mouth brought many old clocks to fix. Ted will be missed and was loved by his family and friends.

Wout trouwde met "Truus" Geertruida Adriana Josemans, dochter van "Thijs" Johannes Matthijs Josemans en "Jeanne" Adriana Maria Margaretha van der Meer, in USA. ("Truus" Geertruida Adriana Josemans werd geboren op 17 Nov 1933 in Leiden ² en overleed op 28 Sep 2022 in USA.)
